Developing confidence through music

For both children and adults, learning to play the piano can help to build confidence and self-esteem. With the right teaching and encouragement at home, an aspiring pianist's sense of who they are as a person can strengthen and flourish:

  • They can find their voice, learn to express a range of emotions, and communicate with others through music

  • They build self-belief through gradually advancing their skills at the piano, showing up to practise, and committing themselves to their musical goals

  • Over time, they will look back and acknowledge what they have accomplished, which gives them the courage to meet challanges with a greater belief in their ability to overcome them.

With all my students, my aim is to encourage and nurture a healthy sense of confidence at the piano — helping them to grow as individuals through musical self-expression. Students who are shy, nervous, or anxious, can be assured of a learning environment that is safe, supportive, and calm. I see each each student for who they are, and give them the tools and encouragement they need to develop personally and musically.

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
